A morning in the heart of the Ternes district

9h. Breakfast in a design hotel

Close to the Champs-Elysées, the Passage Doisy, paved like Old Paris, surrounded by lofts and beautiful buildings, hides the Hotel Doisy and its breakfast under the Parisian sky. 10h. Unusual architecture

Destination Park Monceau, one of the most elegant parks in Paris. Leaving the Hotel Doisy, take Avenue des Ternes, turn in rue Daru and stop at number 12, in front of Saint-Alexandre Nevsky Cathedral. A monument of Paris 17th, the first Russian Orthodox church consecrated in Paris, in the neo-Byzantine style of great beauty. Then turn off at rue de Courcelles and stop just before 48, address of the Chinese pagoda of Maison Loo. A building inaugurated in 1926 by a successful art dealer, converted into a place for exhibitions of Chinese art in the heart of Haussmannian Paris. A few steps down rue Rembrandt, and you will find yourself in Park Monceau.

10h30. A Walk in Park Monceau

Cherished by Maupassant and a place of the Parisian aristocracy, the Park Monceau is discovered by crossing splendid golden gates. Inside: lawns to lie on, giant trees - look for Gingko biloba - and a series of monuments: rotunda, Egyptian pyramid, triumphal arch… Best breaks can be taken at the Park kiosk with a coffee. 11h30. A Buddha in Paris

Head to one of the most secret museums in Paris: the Cernuschi Museum. A mansion among the oldest in the capital (1896) entirely dedicated to the arts of the Far East: China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. Centerpiece of the museum: the Buddha of Meguro, a bronze piece dating from the 18th century, 4 meters high, a place for at a moment of pure meditation. An alternative is the Nissim de Camondo Museum, a small mansion with incredible charm.

12h30. The rue Poncelet market

The Poncelet market : a tradition of Paris 17th and Avenue des Ternes, located only a 4 minute walk from the Hotel Doisy. A daily meeting place for Parisians (except Sundays), who come here at lunchtime, stroll through the good cheese shops, taste fresh oysters, eat some Strussel at the Kaffeehaus, order some good roast chicken and enjoy their time here. Between two shops, listen to Lorant Deutsch's podcast "Paris: where does the name of the Avenue des Ternes come from". 2 minutes to understand everything about the history of the district.

13 h. Bistro kitchen

Alternative to the sandwiches of the Poncelet Market : the restaurant Les Gourmets des Ternes offers a postcard from popular Paris. Known to all the locals, the address held by Jean-François Marie displays placemats on the walls, all the photos of the stars who have passed there. Among others: Jack Nicholson, Johnny and even Clara Morgane. The story has been going on for 60 years, during which we have enjoyed mayo eggs, rib steaks and bowls of fries. For dessert, go to Fondant Baulois, a 2-minute walk from the Hotel Doisy, and taste the iconic chocolate cake from La Baule.

 

An afternoon in Bois de Boulogne

15h. Relax in the Jardin d’Acclimatation

From the Hotel Doisy, you can reach the Jardin d'Acclimatation on the edge of the Bois de Boulogne on foot (around 25 min) or by car (6 min). A paradise for all children where they can ride the roller coaster, get their fill of thrills aboard the most beautiful rides (the Side Cars, the Speed ​​Rockets and the latest, the Toupie), sail on the canoes of the lake, meet animals from the small farm or go on a short walk alongside ducks and swans.

A 5 minute walk from the Jardin d'Acclimatation, follow the sign for the Fondation Louis Vuitton. A monument of architecture signed Frank Gehry. 12 glass sails supported by wooden and metal beams which earned it the nickname "iceberg". Inside, a place for the most beautiful exhibitions. After Cindy Sherman, Bertrand Lavier, Gilbert and Georges or Jean-Michel Basquiat... Before leaving, head to the top floor for a spectacular view of the Bois de Boulogne and the Eiffel Tower.

 

A night in Ternes

19h30. Parisian aperitif

Return to the Ternes district. A 5 minute walk from the Hotel Doisy, head for Le rouge et le verre, the most famous wine shop in Paris 17th. On the menu: a beautiful shared table to be privatized if you want, tasty white pudding, a good local foie gras and the best bottles of the house to celebrate Paris.

20h15. Iconic dinner

Head to Timgad, an institution in the Ternes district, where you can order couscous and tajines in a Marrakesh-style ryad atmosphere with bow tie service included. Alternative is the Relais de Venise. 60 years after opening at Porte Maillot, nothing has changed here. Casual atmosphere, rib steak and fries on the plate for everyone, and gourmet profiteroles for dessert.
